Students are trained to sing for solo performances and in a choir to the accompaniment of the keyboard in Morning Assemblies and other programmes at school.
Our very young students take part in action songs. Other dance performances include contemporary and free style. Dance trains students to be agile, keep rhythm and work in coordination. This is both a learning experience and a fun activity. Students perform for events in school.
Students are encouraged to take part in role play, skits, stage performances and musicals. They learn to emote through facial expressions, body language, voice modulation etc. The objective is to enable students gain confidence and develop good stage presence.
A culmination of all these activities is seen in the Annual Day, presented at the end of the year. Rudyard Kipling’s ‘Jungle Book’, Jules Verne’s ‘Around the World in Eighty Day’s’ and Robert Browning’s ‘The Pied Piper of Hamelin’ were musicals that our students put up.
Art & Craft
Students of all classes are encouraged to draw, paint, sketch and colour. Art Day is conducted each year and finds students at their creative best. Students also work with different materials to create different crafts. Clay Modelling, Mask Making, Origami, Making Best out of Waste, are some craft activities conducted once a month.
To develop concentration skills, mental agility and team work, students play Chess, Carom Table Tennis and Scrabble.
Student Counselling & Life Skill Classes
A student’s emotional & mental well being is just as important as his physical well being. At Kingston High we understand that every child is unique and has different abilities that are inherent in him and every child’s requirement is different. The school has a student counselor from Drishti, who helps both the student and teacher in reaching these goals. Life Skill classes are conducted for all students once a month, and two training sessions for the teachers.
Learnometer Tests & Olympiads
- The Learnometer Tests by XSEED are conducted for students of Grades 1 & 2 to assess their understanding of what they have studied in class and how they are able to apply this new knowledge to existing and new situations.
- The Science Olympiad Foundation in partnership with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs and British Council conducts these exams. The school has enrolled students of Grades 3 to 6 with the main aim of giving them exposure to this national/international competition, and by doing so keeping them abreast of the developments in Science and Technology in the 21st century.
